[남상훈 기자 = 의정부] 지난 7일 김동근 의정부시장이 경민대학교에서 개최된 고등직업교육거점지구사업(이하 HiVE사업)의 1차 연도 연차 평가 및 2차 연도 사업계획 심의를 위한 ‘2023년 제1차 고등 직업교육 혁신위원회’에 참석했다.

HiVE사업은 전문대학과 지방자치단체 간 협력을 통해 지역 인구소멸과 학령인구 감소 등 위기 상황에 대응하고, 입학-교육-취업-지역 내 정주로 이어지는 선순환 구조의 고등직업교육거점 구축을 위한 교육부의 재정지원 사업이다. 의정부시와 경민대학교가 컨소시엄을 구성해 지난해 5월 공모에 선정됐다.

2023년 2차 연도 사업 제1차 회의에는 지역의 관계기관, 경제계 및 산업계를 대표하는 9명의 위원이 참석했다. HiVE사업 추진을 위한 상호 협력 사항을 논의했다. 또한 지난해 추진된 고등직업교육거점지구사업의 연차 평가보고서와 2차 연도 사업계획 및 사업 운영 관련 지침 제정 등을 심의 의결하는 자리를 가졌다.

의정부시와 경민대학교는 지역의 중장기 발전 목표에 부합하는 지역 특화 분야로 2023년부터 교육체계를 확대 개편해 학위과정(스마트인테리어학과, 스마트팜과, 로컬푸드조리과, 패밀리케어과)의 프로그램을 개발해 79명의 신입생을 모집·운영하고 있다.

또한 지역주민을 대상으로 평생 직업교육 심화 과정과 직업교육 프로그램을 운영해, 지역맞춤형 전문인력을 양성하는 등 지역 기반의 직업교육 거점 임무를 수행할 계획이다.

이를 위해 교육부에서 지난 2022년부터 3년간 45억 원의 국비가 지원될 예정이다. 의정부시에서는 6억 7천 5백만 원을 지원, 총 51억 7천 500만 원의 예산을 투입해 사업을 추진할 예정이다.
