[남상훈 기자 = 의정부] 지난 8일 안동광 의정부시 부시장은 의정부시청 중회의실에서 ‘캠프 에세이욘 근린공원 조성 계획(변경) 및 관리계획(변경) 용역’ 착수보고회를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 착수보고회에는 안동광 의정부시 부시장 주재로 김연균 시의원, 오범구 시의원 및 외부 전문가와 관련 부서장들이 참석한 가운데 공원 조성 계획에 대한 방향성을 논의하고 기본계획에 대한 다양한 의견이 제시됐다. 

캠프 에세이욘 근린공원 조성은 의정부시의 재정 여건상 예산 확보의 문제로 난항을 겪어왔다. 그러나 지난 2021년 발전종합계획 확정으로 국비 58억 8,000만 원을 지원받아 국유지를 매입했다. 또한 중앙도시계획위원회 심의를 통해 훼손지 복구 사업 대상지로 확정돼 LH로부터 사업비 121억 4,200만 원 납부협약을 체결해 사업 추진에 탄력을 얻었다.

이에 의정부시는 지난해 11월 주민에게 쾌적한 주거환경을 보장하고 지역 방문객을 위한 휴식ㆍ여가 공간을 제공하기 위한 공원 조성 계획을 수립하고자 ‘공원 조성 계획(변경) 및 관리계획(변경) 용역’을 착수했다. 용역 기간은 18개월로 오는 2024년 5월까지 진행될 예정이다.

한편, 캠프 에세이욘 근린공원은 금오동 441-53번지 일원에 약 96,000㎡ 규모로 오는 2025년 12월 완공 예정이다.
