[김준호 기자 = 태백시] 태백시(시장 이상호)는 폐광지역 대체산업 발굴지원을 위한 관계기관 의견수렴 간담회가 지난 12월 27일 산업통상자원부 회의실에서 진행됐다고 밝혔다.

이날 간담회는 주관부서인 임형진 산업부 석탄광물산업과장을 비롯해 태백, 삼척, 화순 등 폐광 업무 담당과장 및 팀장, 장준영 한국광해광업공단 지역진흥팀장 등 총 10명이 참석했다.

회의에서는, 석탄공사 부지활용 대체산업 육성 마스터 플랜 수립 용역에 대해 한국광해광업공단의 용역 개요 설명과 산업통상자원부의 최종 용역 관련 지자체 의견을 수렴하는 시간을 가졌다. 

간담회를 통해, 태백시(시장 이상호)는 그동안 국가를 상대로 건의하였던 장성광업소 부지 내 국가산단 조성 등의 당위성 설명과 노후 장성광업소 사택 철거, 폐광과 동시에 광해 복구 사업 추진 등 다양한 시의 의견을 담을 것을 요구했다. 

산업통상자원부 및 한국광해광업공단은 용역 내 포함될 과업내용은 지자체 의견을 충분히 수렴 적극, 반영할 것이며, 효율적인 업무 추진을 위해 용역 발주 전 산업부 주관 아래 3개 지자체와의 용역 추진 관련 협의체 구성을 논의하겠다고 밝혔다.

이번 대한석탄공사 산하 3개 광업소 부지 활용 대체산업 수립을 위한 마스터플랜 용역은 총 사업비 25억으로 오는 3월부터 12월까지 10개월간 진행되며 산업통상자원부가 주관하고 한국광해광업공단이 태백시, 삼척시, 화순군의 의견을 종합 수립 후 발주를 맡아 추진한다.

한편, 현재 폐광 예정 광업소는 대한석탄공사 산하 3개 광업소로 화순광업소가 2023년, 장성광업소가 2024년, 도계광업소가 2025년 폐광 수순을 밟게 된다.
