[서종협 기자 = 태백시] 태백시(시장 이상호)는 장기간 방치되어 도시미관을 저해하는 공·폐가를 철거하기 위해 2022년 폐광지역 62개의 빈집정비 지원사업을 추진한다고 밝혔다.

시는 사업비 1억 원(도비 5000만원, 시비 5000만원)을 들여 폐광지역진흥지구 안에 있는 폐가와 공가 등 빈집 12동을 오는 12월까지 모두 철거할 계획이며 환경부 슬레이트 처리지원사업과 연계, 사업효과 극대화 및 형평성을 도모할 계획이다.

이번 사업을 통해 방치된 빈집을 철거하거나 안전조치하여 주거환경을 개선하고, 우범지대를 해소해 주민들의 삶의 질을 향상시킬 것으로 기대하고 있다.

시 관계자는 “내년에도 도시미관 향상 및 주거환경 개선을 위한 빈집 정비 사업을 적극적으로 추진할 계획이다”고 말했다.
