[김준호 기자 = 정선군] 강원 정선군(군수 최승준)은 폐광지역 주민들의 오랜 숙원인 군도 7호선 사북~직전 간 도로개설 공사를 완료하였다고 밝혔다.
지난 개최된 개통식에는 최승준 군수를 비롯하여 전영기 군의회 의장 및 군의원, 사회단체장, 지역주민 등 150여명이 참석한 가운데 개통식을 개최됐다.
군도7호선 사북~직전간 도로개설 사업은 2019년부터 총사업비 180억원을 들여 말고개재에 터널 314m를 비롯해 총1.73km의 도로개설을 추진하여 사북에서 직전까지 기존 20분이상 소요되던 이동시간을 5분 여로 단축시킬 수 있게 되었다.

이번 도로 개통으로 그동안 접근성이 좋지 않았던 직전리 주변 일대에 쾌적한 주거환경과 상업, 녹지, 공공시설 조성 등에 대한 기대감이 커졌으며, 고한·사북지역 배후도시 역할 등 사북 시가지 접근성 개선으로 주택난 해결과 인구증가와 지역 경제 활성화에 큰 도움이 될 것으로 예상된다.
유광택 정선군 건설과장은 “앞으로 도로 통행안전을 확보하기 위해 구간내 제설창고를 설치하고, 전담 제설장비를 배치하는 등 도로를 이용하는지역주민과 관광객들의 통행안전 확보에 최선의 노력을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
