북부지방산림청은 인제 지역 내 백두대간을 중심으로 역사·문화·자연자원 및 심미적 가치를 발굴하여 조성한 백두대간트레일 101km, 약수숲길 38km, DMZ트레일 21.5km 등 총 160.5km의 숲길을 체계적으로 운영·관리해오고 있다고 전했다.

이번 착수보고회는 북부지방산림청, 위탁기관 등 숲길 담당자들이 참석한 가운데 사업의 세부 추진계획과 숲길 및 부대시설의 운영·관리, 이용객과 지역주민 맞춤형 프로그램 운영, 숲길 홍보 및 안전 대책 강화 등 원활한 사업 추진을 위한 방안 등을 논의하는 방식으로 진행되었다고 했다.
