[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 강릉시는 관광진흥법 제52조에 따라 지정되어있는 관광지 5개소에 대해 지정관광지 활성화 방안을 마련하기 위한 용역을 착수했다고 밝혔다.

강릉시 관내에는 관광진흥법에 따라 관광지로 지정된 곳이 주문진해변, 연곡해수욕장, 등명, 옥계, 대관령 어흘리 등 총 5개소(면적: 1,226,462㎡)가 있으며, 관광지로 지정된 시기는 1980년대부터 2014년도까지 다양하지만 대부분 개발이 저조한 상황이라고 했다.

특히 미개발 지역은 대부분 사유지인 관계로 민간투자가 적극적으로 이루어지지 않으면 개발이 현실적으로 어렵고, 관광지 조성계획은 오래전에 수립된 내용이다 보니 현실에 부합되지 않은 부분 등에 대해서 개선이 필요하다는 의견들이 꾸준히 제기되어 왔다고 했다. 

이에 따라, 강릉시에서는 관광지 조성계획을 분석 및 진단, 변화된 지역여건을 고려한 개발방향 제시, 민간투자 촉진을 위한 기준마련 등을 위하여‘지정관광지 활성화 방안 수립 용역’을 진행 중에 있다고 했다. 

또한 실효성 있는 용역추진을 위하여 해당 용역계획을 시홈페이지 등에 공고하고, 지정관광지 내 개발계획 등에 대한 의견을 듣고 있으며, 발계획이 있는 이해관계인 등은 오는 20일까지 시 관광과로 서면 또는 메일로 제출하면 되고, 제출된 내용은 참고자료로 활용된다고 전했다.         

강릉시 관계자는“지정관광지 개발이 탄력을 받을 수 있도록 제도적인 기반을 마련하는 데 더욱 만전을 기하겠다”고 말했다.
