[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 7일 북부지방산림청은 '제3차 산림유전자원보호구역 지역관리계획 수립 연구용역' 착수보고회를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

산림유전자원보호구역은 산림 중에 식물종과 산림생태계 보전을 위하여 특별히 관리가 필요하다고 산림청장이 인정하는 구역으로 전국 1,821㎢ 중 북부지방산림청 관할 구역(서울·인천·경기·강원영서 74개 시·군·구 내)이 47.1% (85,771ha)에 달한다고 전했다.

이처럼 우리나라 산림유전자원 보호의 중추적 지역으로서 북부청 관할에 대한 식생 연구 결과 및 사업 이력의 다각적 분석과 운영 여건을 바탕으로 산림유전자원보호구역 관리 방안을 제시함이 이번 연구용역의 목표라고 했다.

최수천 청장은 “산림생물다양성 증진 관련 국내외 여건변화와  우리 지방청의 지역 특성을 반영하여 선택과 집중의 산림유전자원 보전·관리를 추진하겠다 ”라고 밝혔다.
