이날 착수보고회는 코로나19 확산 방지를 위해 방역수칙을 철저히 준수 하에 성열원 양성평등위원회 위원장을 비롯해 김은미 여성보육과장, 방기숙 여성단체협의회장, 민간전문가 박재규 수원시 여성문화공간 휴 센터장, 한국여성정책연구원 연구진 등 9명이 참석했다고 전했다.

성인지통계란 개별 차원에서 남녀로 분리되어 있는 통계로 여성과 남성의 조건, 필요 등을 분석해 정책에 반영하고자 생산, 제시된 통계를 의미하며 궁극적으로는 사회의 여러 측면에서 남녀가 처한 상황 차이와 불평등한 현상을 보여주고 이를 철폐하고자 만들어지는 통계를 말한다.

이번 성인지 통계 작성은 여성친화도시 조성 사업의 일환으로 성별 현황에 대한 통계를 체계적으로 작성·분석함으로써 시 정책 수립과 점검에 활용할 목적으로 추진되며 올해 10월 말 최종 발간을 목표로 사업을 진행한다고 했다. 

성인지 통계는 인구, 가족, 보육, 교육, 경제활동, 건강, 복지, 정치 및 사회참여, 문화 및 여가, 안전 및 환경 등 사회 전반에 걸친 다양한 지표로 구성될 예정이며 추후 양성평등정책 수립 및 평가의 기초자료와 여성친화도시 조성 사업 추진계획 및 현황분석의 기초자료 등으로 활용할 계획이라고 했다.

양주시 관계자는 “양주시 성인지 통계 제작을 통해 성별에 따른 불평등한 상황을 점검하고 정책에 적극 반영해 궁극적으로는 2단계 여성친화도시로 나아가는 데에 마중물이 될 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
