[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 28일 횡성군과 강원도는 '민선8기 새로운 강원도! 특별 자치시대!를 여는 Go! One-Team' 비전공유 간담회를 통해 묵계리 이모빌리티 산업입지 가속화와 부지 효율적 활용에 대한 지자체 차원의 협력과 지원을 약속했다고 밝혔다. 

부대 이전을 통해 횡성군에서 확보한 묵계리 8만평의 부지는 지난 2020년 공모 선정을 통해 이모빌리티 기업지원센터 건립 사업이 진행되고 있었으나, 사업에 대해 사전에 충분한 공감대와 합의가 미흡했다는 군민의 목소리를 반영하여 민선 8기 군정 출범과 함께 부지 이전 등 최적의 방안을 모색해왔다. 

그동안 군에서는 대체부지를 확보하고 강원도와 원팀을 이루어 산업자원부 등 관계기관과의 긴밀한 협의를 지속해 왔으며 지속적인 논의와 조정 과정을 통해 탄약고 벙커 부분을 문화 체험과 전시 공간으로써 군민에게 환원하기로 하는 성과를 이끌어낼 수 있었고 또한 착공을 앞둔 시점에서 더 이상 사업을 지체할 수 없다는 공감대가 형성되면서 횡성군이 이를 수용하기로 했으며 지역 전체를 이모빌리티 거점 특화단지를 만드는 데 강원도에서도 적극 협조하기로 하는 등 횡성군과 강원도 윈-윈 상생의 돌파구가 마련됐다. 

군은 이번 성과를 바탕으로 횡성읍 묵계리 일원에 ‘이모빌리티 거점특화단지’를 조성할 계획이며 기존에 진행해 온 이모빌리티 연구개발특화단지(이모빌리티 기업지원센터)는 물론 신규사업으로 이모빌리티 첨단 테크노단지(이모빌리티 기업 및 연구, R&D 시설)와 이모빌리티 관광문화복합단지(이모빌리티 관광문화시설, 화훼공원 및 상설축제장 등) 조성을 추진하고 재사용 배터리 에너지저장장치(ESS)를 기반으로 ‘횡성형 스마트팜’구축사업도 함께 추진해나갈 계획이다. 

김명기 군수는 “신성장동력 이모빌리티 산업은 횡성의 향후 100년을 이끌어나갈 것이다. 이모빌리티 산업이 보다 경쟁력을 확보하는 한편 주민소득과도 연계될 수 있도록 강원도와 원 팀(One-Team)으로서 협력과 지원을 다해 나가겠다.”고 말했다.
