[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 환경부 원주지방환경청은 탄소중립위원회, 정부 부처, 지자체와 합동으로 ‘탄소중립 주간’을 운영한다고 밝혔다.

탄소중립 주간은 ‘2050 탄소중립 목표(비전) 선언(’20.12.10) 1주년’을 맞아 기후 위기 대응을 위한 탄소중립의 중요성과 절실함을 알리고, 탄소중립 생활 실천문화를 확산하는 계기로 삼기 위해 마련됐으며, 오는 12월 6일부터 10일까지 ‘더 늦기 전에, 2050 탄소중립’을 주제로 시행된다고 했다.

원주지방환경청은 지난 5월부터 탄소중립 실현과 일회용품 사용 근절을 위해 「‘다시한번’ 일회용품 안쓰기, 바로지금, 나부터!」캠페인을 선포하고, 원주혁신도시 내 13개 공공기관과 함께 탄소중립 실천문화 확산을 위해 꾸준히 노력해왔다고 전했다.

이번 탄소중립 주간에는 ’온라인 퀴즈 이벤트 및 아이디어 공모‘,  SNS(유튜브, 페이스북 등)를 통한 동영상, 카드뉴스 게재 등 다각적인 홍보활동으로 탄소중립의 필요성과 실천 방법 등을 지역사회에 전파한다고 했다.

탄소중립을 위한 생활 속 실천으로는 일회용품 사용 안하기, 식재료 낭비 줄이기, 친환경 운전 습관 지키기, 불필요한 이메일 지우기, 나만의 식물 키우기 등을 제안한다고 했다.

이창흠 원주지방환경청장은 “2050 탄소중립 실현을 위해서는 사회 전반에서 실천하는 문화가 매우 중요한 만큼, 국민 개개인의 적극적인 참여를 부탁드린다”고 밝혔다.
