[안종욱 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 12일 가평군이 동절기를 대비해 어려운 이웃이 따뜻한 겨울을 날 수 있도록 관내 기초생활수급자, 독거노인, 장애인 가구 등 12가구를 대상으로 땔감 60㎥(1톤 트럭 12대 분량)을 지원했다고 밝혔다.

가평군에 따르면 땔감은 가평군이 관내 군유림·사유림을 대상으로 ‘2021년 숲가꾸기 사업’을 추진하면서 발생된 부산물을 이용한 것으로 숲 가꾸기 사업장에서 발생한 잡목을 취약계층에게 겨울철 난방용 땔감으로 제공하여 취약계층 난방부담 절감·산불예방·일자리 창출의 1석3조 효과를 내는 사업이라고 했다. 

가평군은 사랑의 땔감 지원이 고유가 시대를 맞은 소외계층의 겨울철 난방비 절감과 더불어 따뜻한 겨울나기에 큰 도움을 줄 것으로 기대하고 있다고 전했다.

실제 이번에 전달된 땔감 중 설악면에 전달된 약 135단의 땔감은 설악면행정복지센터를 통해 설악면에 홀로 사는 노인과 장애인 가구 등 3개소에 전달됐다고 했다. 

땔감 수혜자 선정은 맞춤형 복지팀이 난방여건 등 현장 확인하여 추천한 대상자를 기준으로 결정됐으며, 대상자가 고령이거나 장애인임을 고려하여 설악면 산업팀의 많은 산불감시요원들의 협조로 어르신이 편하고 쉽게 아궁이를 땔 수 있도록 땔감을 일일이 사용위치에 근접한 곳에 차곡차곡 야적했다고 했다.

이범주 설악면장은 독거노인 1개 가구에 직접 방문하여 사랑의 땔감을 담당자들과 함께 하차 및 야적했으며,  나머지 땔감도 각 읍면으로 배부, 땔감이 필요한 이웃에 전달됐다고 전했다.

이날 땔감을 후원받은 L할머니는 “요즘 물가가 올라서 난방비 부담이 커서 땔감도 아껴쓰고 있었는데, 설악면행정복지센터와 많은 분들이 땔감을 이렇게 많이 지원하여 주어서서 1~2월에 강추위가 와도 걱정이 없게 되었다.”라며 행복해 하셨다고 했다. 

이범주 설악면장은 “설악면은 타 읍·면에 비해 추위가 심한데, 어르신에게 전달하여 드린 땔감으로 따뜻한 겨울을 지내는데 도움이 될 수 있으면 한다.”라고 하며, “언제라도 어려운 일이 있으시면 설악면행정복지센터 맞춤형 복지팀을 찾아주시길 바란다.” 라고 말했다. 그리고 “추운날씨에도 함께 협조해 준 산업팀 산불감시요원에 감사를 드린다”라며 격려했다.
