[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 임종훈 포천시의원이 국민의힘 공천에서 탈락하자 무소속 출마를 선언했다.

지난 10일 임종훈 포천시의원은 포천시 의회의원실에서 무소속 출마 기자회견을 가졌다.

임종훈 의원은 "지난 4년간 하루도 빠짐없이 지역을 돌며 어느 누구보다 포천시를 포살폈다"며, 지난 4년간의 의정활동에 평가를 받고 4년의 열정과 경험을 가지고 다시 한번 포천시 발전과 시민 행복을 위해 봉사하고 싶다"고 밝혔다.

이어, "국회의원의 하수인이 아닌 포천시민의 하수인으로 거듭나겠다. 무속으로 시민들이 선택하여 살아서 돌아간다면 공천권자의 종이 아니라 포천시민의 종이 되어 포천시민만을 위한 선출직 일꾼이 되겠다."고 약속했다.

임종훈 의원은 포천의 후진적 정치 지형을 바꿔 포천 정치 혁신을 일으킬수 있도록 도와달라며 포천시민들에게 지지를 호소했다.

한편, 임종훈 의원은 현재 포천시의회 운영위원장으로 활동 중이며, 포천시 재향군인회 이사, 포천시 시각장애인심부름센터 운영위원,민주평화통일자문회의 포천시협의회 간사 등을 역임했다.
