[남상훈 기자 = 고성군] 고성군은 산불 취약 시기 산불 예방과 산불 발생 시 생활권 산불 피해 확산 방지를 위해 이달까지 생활권 주변 산불예방 숲가꾸기 사업을 추진한다고 밝혔다.

4억 9천만원의 예산이 투입된 이번사업은 고성군 간성읍 간촌리 산5번지 일대 91ha, 거진읍 화포리 산3번지 일대 88.8ha 총 179.8ha의 생활권 주변 산림으로 원활한 사업 추진을 위해 1차·2차 사업으로 순차적으로 추진된다.

산불예방 숲가꾸기 사업은 산림 내 솎아베기·가지치기 등을 통해 임목 밀도를 조절하고, 산림부산물 수집을 통해 산불 발생 위험을 최소화하고자 하는 사업으로 봄철 대형산불 예방을 위해 2023년 1월까지 사업을 마무리할 예정이다.

또한, 산불예방 숲가꾸기를 통해 발생한 원목과 산림부산물은 재활용되어 고성군에서 가동하고 있는 목재펠릿 생산시설의 재료로 사용될 예정이며, 생산된 목재펠릿은 고성군민을 위해 생산·보급될 예정이다.

산림과장 이수원은 “산불예방 숲가꾸기를 통해 산불 발생을 미연에 방지하여 산불 없는 고성군을 만들고자 하며, 산불예방 숲가꾸기 사업으로 발생한 산림부산물은 고성군민을 위해 쓰일 수 있도록 노력하겠다.”고 말했다.
