고성군은 토성면 산불피해지 내 사유지 개발 및 산불 피해배상 소송 등으로 산주 동의가 어렵지만 동의가 완료된 성천리를 중심으로 약 57ha에 대한 복구조림을 완료한 상태다. 

또한, 이번 사업을 통해 11월 중 원암리 일원 22ha에 신규 복구조림 및 설해, 가뭄 등 피해로 활착율이 저조한 기존 복구조림지53ha 보식사업 등 총 75ha에 대한 복구조림 및 보식사업을 실시할 계획이다.

군은 산주가 원하는 조림수종을 사업에 반영하는 등 적극적인 설득을 통해 산불피해지 산림생태 및 경관 회복과 산불 피해목으로 인한 추가적인 재해 발생 예방을 위해 노력할 것이라는 입장을 밝혔다.
