이날 정순욱 부시장은 노인복지관과 애신아동복지센터를 방문해 안부를 묻고 사과, 배 등 과일과 신학기를 맞아 아동들에게는 문구세트를 전달했고, 또한 가족과 같은 마음으로 시설 이용자들을 보살피는 직원들에게 감사를 표하며 현장의 목소리를 청취했다고 전했다.

정순욱 부시장은 “코로나19 장기화로 어느 때보다 힘든 시기에 지역복지를 위해 애쓰시는 사회복지시설 종사자가 있어서 든든하다”고 격려하며 연휴 전 취약 노인가구의 겨울철 화재 및 동파사고 등 안전 확인을 당부했다고 했다.

한편 동두천시는 매년 설과 추석 명절마다 사회복지시설 등에 꾸준히 위문품을 전달해 오고 있다고 밝혔다.
