[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 2월 11일 포천동 남녀 새마을지도자는 취약계층 아동들의 신학기 교복구입비 및 교육비 지원을 위해 포천동 행정복지센터에 200만 원을 기탁했다고 밝혔다.

이 사업은 매년 남녀 새마을지도자에서 관공서 및 농협 등에 모금함을 비치하고 일년동안 모은 동전 200만 원을 취약계층 아동들에게 교복 구입비와 교육비를 지원하는 장학 사업이라고 했다.

포천동 남녀 새마을지도자는 작년 3월에도 100만 원을 취약계층 아동 교복 구입비로 전달했으며, 올해는 더 많은 모금을 통해 취약계층 아동에게 교복 구입비와 교육비까지 지원하게 됐다고 전했다. 

포천동 남녀 새마을지도자는 “학생들의 꿈과 희망을 응원하고 학생들이 희망을 잃지 않고 학업에 정진하는데 조금이나마 힘이 되기를 기대한다. 앞으로도 매년 나눔 사업을 지속할 예정이다.”라고 포부를 밝혔다.

김태석 포천동장은 “우리나라를 이끌어 갈 꿈나무들을 위해 앞으로도 사회단체와 연계한 기부문화 확산에 포천동이 앞장서겠다.”라고 말했다. 

아울러 전달식 행사 후 새마을지도자 포천동부녀회에서는 임기만료에 따라 퇴임하는 부녀회장님에게 감사장 전달 행사와 이효순 회장의 시정발전 유공 포천시장 표창장 전달 등이 진행됐다고 밝혔다.
