[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 2월 7일 안병용 의정부시장은 의정부시체육회로부터 의정부시 체육발전에 기여한 공에 대한 감사의 마음을 담은 감사패를 받았다고 밝혔다.

이날 전달식은 이명철 의정부시체육회장을 비롯해 체육회 임원진이 참석해 안병용 의정부시장에게 감사패를 전달했으며, 아울러 의정부시체육회는 의정부시 이웃돕기 창구에 관내 취약계층 주민들을 위한 성금 200만 원을 기탁하기도 했다고 전했다.

의정부시는 모든 시민이 가까운 곳에서 스포츠를 즐길 수 있도록 권역별 및 생활밀착형 국민체육센터 조성, 국제 바둑전용 경기장 건립 등 스포츠 인프라 구축을 추진하고 있다고 했다.

의정부시는 전국 남녀 피겨 스케이팅대회, 의정부 도드람컵 프로배구대회, 의정부 바둑페스티벌, 한기범 희망농구 자선경기대회 등 다양한 종목의 스포츠 이벤트를 개최해 스포츠 저변 확대 등 지역 스포츠산업 활성화에 기여한 공로를 인정받아 제17회 대한민국 스포츠산업대상에서 우수 지방자치단체상을 수상한 바 있다고 했다.

안병용 의정부시장은 “시민이 건강하고 행복한 체육도시 의정부를 만들기 위해 다양한 스포츠 행사 개최와 스포츠 인프라 구축에 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.
