[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 2월 9일 의정부시는 전통사찰 제106호인 성불사가 어려운 이웃을 위해 이웃돕기 성금 300만 원과 600만 원 상당의 쌀 5kg 300포를 기탁했다고 밝혔다.

이날 전달받은 성금 900여만 원은 어려운 이웃을 위해 소중하게 사용될 예정이라고 했다.

전통사찰 성불사는 1894년 흥선대원군의 보덕암 창건으로부터 출발하며, 이후 화재와 전쟁 등으로 소실됐던 보덕암을 1963년 중건하면서 성불사라 칭하여 현재까지 이르고 있고, 2016년 전통사찰 106호로 지정됐으며, 2021년 사찰 소유 문화재 성불사 신중도가 경기도 유형문화재 제375호로 지정됐다고 했다.

도심 전통사찰 성불사 주지 스님은 “부처님의 자비 정신을 바탕으로 신도분들이 십시일반으로 기부한 것으로, 의정부시의 어려운 이웃분들에게 약소하나마 도움이 되길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 부처님의 자비와 같이 의정부 시민들의 선한 영향력이 이웃들에게 전해질 수 있도록 힘을 모아주시기 바란다”고 말했다.
