[김현우 기자 = 강릉] 강릉시는 '지역 학·연 협력사업'의 효율적 추진을 위해 지역 대학 및 연구기관과 두 차례의 업무 협약식을 개최한다고 밝혔다.

17일 오후 4시 시청에서 강릉원주대학교와 함께 한국과학기술연구원(KIST) 강릉 천연물연구소 및 한국생산기술연구원(KITECH) 강원본부와 각각 협약을 체결하고 지역발전 선순환 생태계 조성에 앞장선다. 

각 기관은 지역 혁신의 공동 주체로서 국내 최고 수준의 학·연 협력 시스템을 구축하여 강릉이 핵심 국정과제 중 하나인 ‘지방과학기술주권 확보로 지역 주도 혁신성장 실현’의 시발점이 되도록 노력할 계획이다.

지역 대학과 연구기관이 자발적으로 참여하는 과학기술 기반의 학·연 협력 플랫폼을 구축하고, 지역맞춤형 기술개발을 통한 산업기반조성을 위해 연구개발 전문인력 양성 및 첨단 신기술 육성 등에 집중할 예정이다.

이날 행사에는 강릉시 김홍규 시장, 강릉원주대학교 반선섭 총장, KIST 장준연 분원장 및 KITECH 김경훈 본부장을 비롯하여 각 기관 관계자 20여 명이 참석한다.

김홍규 시장은 “이번 협약을 통하여 지속가능한 학·연 협력 모델을 구축하고자 한다”며, “강릉시 전략산업인 세라믹 소재 및 천연물 바이오 산업을 기반으로 동북아 발전의 중심축을 이루는 첨단과학산업도시로 도약할 수 있는 시너지를 창출하겠다”고 말했다.
