[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 9월 21일 김동근 의정부시장은 미래 철도 정책을 이끌어나갈 전문가 등 12명의 자문단을 위촉하고 민선 8기 철도 공약 이행방안 모색에 나섰다고 밝혔다.

김 시장은 시청 상황실에서 자문위원 위촉식과 함께 제1차 자문회의를 열고 의정부시의 철도사업 현황과 그동안의 철도 정책을 공유하며 향후 추진 방향을 논의했다.

자문단은 철도ㆍ교통분야 대학교수 및 연구원, 업계 전문가 등 12명으로 구성되며, 의정부시 장래 철도망을 구상하고 구체적인 로드맵과 실천계획을 만드는 등 민선 8기 공약사항을 효율적으로 추진하기 위한 자문활동을 하게 된다.

김동근 의정부시장은 “의정부 균형발전을 위해 철도가 소외된 동부지역에 대한 공급방안이 필요하다”며 “전문가들과 함께 지속적인 토론을 하는 한편, 향후에는 시의회 및 시민들의 의견을 충분히 반영해 새로운 철도 정책을 만들어 나가겠다”고 말했다.
