[김준호 기자=동해시] 동해시 안묵호 마을은 현재 어획량감소 등으로 인해 매우 낙후된 지역 중 하나로  지난해 3월 동해안 대형산불 등의 악재로 거주여건이 더욱 열악해 졌다.

시는, 대통령직속 국가균형발전위원회에서 주관하는 2023년 취약지역 생활여건 개조 공모사업에 ‘묵호 파란만장 안묵호 마을’을 신청하였으며, 지난 24일 사업대상지로 최종 선정됐다.

이에따라,  2027년까지 과거 묵호의 중심지였던 안묵호 마을에 대해 생활여건을 대폭 개선한다고 밝혔다.

취약지역 생활여건 개조사업은 주거, 안전, 위생 등 주민생활과 밀접한 생활여건 개선사업을 지원하는 국책사업이다. 

지난, 2021년 선정된 발한 향로마을 새뜰마을사업에 이어 동해시에서 추진하는 5번째 새뜰마을사업으로, 시는 국비 21억원 등 총 32억원을 투입하여 사면보강, 골목길 보행환경 개선 등 안전확보 및 기반시설 정비를 단계적으로 추진할 계획이다

임성규 도시정비과장은 “안묵호 마을 새뜰마을사업을 통해 재해예방, 기초생활 인프라 구축, 집수리 지원 등의 사업을 단계적으로 추진하여 지역발전의 전환점이 되도록 해나가겠다”고 말했다.
