[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 9월 21일 의정부시는 파발 교차로 부근 대로변에서 의정부경찰서, 한국교통안전공단 경기북부본부와 합동으로 이륜차 불법행위 야간 단속을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

이번 단속 구역은 평소 교통혼잡 구간임에도 이륜차 불법 개조를 뿌리 뽑고 불법 튜닝으로 인한 이륜차 굉음 등으로 인한 시민들의 불편을 최소화하기 위해 야간 단속에 나서 올해 단속 실적 중 최다 적발건수를 기록했다.

주요 이륜차 불법행위에 해당하는 미승인 안개등 부착, 핸들 튜닝, 소음기(배기구) 불법 튜닝, 굉음 오토바이에 대한 데시벨 측정, 번호판 훼손 등을 집중 단속했으며, LED 부착, 전조등·번호등 고장 여부 점검까지 철저하게 확인했고 이날 단속으로 지난달보다 20건 많은 65건의 자동차관리법 위반 행위가 적발됐으며 위반행위로는 불법 튜닝 16건, LED 부착·번호등 고장 등 안전기준 위반 37건, 등록번호판 관리 소홀 4건 등으로 불법 이륜차 소유주에게 자동차관리법 제10조, 제29조 위반에 따른 행정처분 및 같은 법 제34조 위반에 따른 형사 처벌이 있을 예정이다.

이재철 주차관리과장은 “유관기관과 매월 이륜차 불법행위를 단속해 내 삶을 바꾸는 도시로 거듭날 수 있도록 지속적 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
