[김현우 기자 = 강릉] 강릉시는 청소근로자의 안전과 근무환경 개선을 위해 올해부터 생활폐기물 수거 시간을 야간에서 주간으로 변경한다고 4일 밝혔다.

기존에는 새벽 3시부터였던 생활폐기물 수거 시간을 오전 6시부터 오후 3시까지로 변경하여 청소근로자의 안전사고 발생 위험을 낮추고, 낮 시간대 시야 확보를 통해 원활하게 생활폐기물을 수거하여 깨끗한 도심 환경을 만들겠다는 취지이다.

쓰레기 배출 시간은 종전과 같이 일요일~금요일(일요일 미수거) 일몰 후부터 밤 12시까지이며, 배출 방법 또한 동일하다.

- 생활폐기물: 지정된 장소에 종량제봉투 배출

- 음식물류폐기물: 지정된 장소에 종량제봉투, 음식물종량기 사용

- 재활용가능자원: 지정된 장소에 투명한 봉투에 분리배출

강릉시 관계자는 “생활폐기물 주간 수거로 출근 시간대 불가피하게 수거 차량을 운행하게 되어 주택가 골목길 차량 정체 등 주민들의 불편이 다소 우려된다”면서, “청소 근로자의 근무환경개선과 안전확보를 위하여 양해해주시길 바라며, 폐기물의 배출 시간과 배출 방법을 잘 지켜 깨끗한 강릉 만들기에 동참해주시길 부탁드린다”고 당부했다.
