[안종욱 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 29일 가평군은 경기도와 포천시, 연천군과 상생협력을 위한 업무협약을 경기북부청사에서 체결했다고 밝혔다. 

가평군을 비롯한 포천시, 연천군은 경기도내에서도 상수원 보전지역, 군사보호지역, 수도권과밀억제 등 3중, 4중의 중첩규제로 오래전부터 개발이 제한되어 각종 기반시설과 교통접근성이 떨어지는 등  ‘특별한 희생’을 감내하고 있으며, 이에 경기도는 도내 다른 시군에 비해 제약이 많은 가평, 포천, 연천 3개 시군과 상생협력을 위한 협약을 추진했다고 했다. 

협약에 따라 경기도와 포천시, 가평군, 연천군은 중첩규제 등으로 낙후된 북동부 지역의 ‘규제합리화’를 위한 공동 노력, 북동부 지역의 ‘특별한 희생’에 대한 ‘특별한 보상’을 위한 다양한 지원, ‘제2차 경기도 지역균형발전 기본계획’의 성공적 추진을 위한 공동 협력의 정책과제에 대해 협력할 방침이라고 했다.

한편, 경기도는 균형발전을 위해 지난 4월 수원 등 경기남부 지역에 집중적으로 위치한 경기도 공공기관을 분산 배치하는 공모사업을 실시하기도 했다고 전했다. 

가평군은 “이번 업무 협약이 가평을 비롯한 경기북부 3개 시군의 위상이 실질적으로 변화하고 지역의 경제 발전의 마중물이 되기를 바란다.”고 말했다.
