이번 집중단속은 코로나19로 배달 문화가 확산되며 이륜차 운행이 급증하고, 최근 이륜자동차 관련 교통법규 위반 행위 및 그로 인한 사고·사망자 수가 증가함에 따라 추진됐다고 했다.
주요 단속 유형은 미사용신고, 번호판 미부착, 번호판 훼손·가림, 불법튜닝, 무단방치, 신호위반, 인명보호장구 미착용, 보도통행, 중앙선 침범 등 도로교통법 위반 이륜차를 대상으로 집중 단속할 계획이라고 전했다.
동두천시 관계자는 “이륜차의 난폭운전 등으로 시민의 교통안전을 위협하고, 소음기 불법개조 등으로 발생하는 생활환경 침해행위 근절을 위해 이륜차 운전자에게 불법행위에 대한 경각심을 높이고, 교통관련 법규를 준수토록 하는 계기로 삼겠다”고 밝혔다.
