[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 3월 21일 오후 1시, 횡성군은 국회의원회관에서 비대면 화상회의로 개최된 '공정관광 지방정부 협의회 창립총회'에 참석했다고 밝혔다.

공정관광이란 관광객, 지역주민, 관광 사업체와 자연환경 간의 관계에서 불공정함과 불평등을 줄이고, 지역 주민의 삶과 문화를 존중하면서 자연환경을 보전하고 공정한 거래를 하는 지속 가능한 관광을 뜻하며, 이에 공감하고 뜻을 함께하는 지방정부가 모여 '공정관광 지방정부협의회'를 구성, 공정관광 정책 활성화를 위해 공동 대응·협력에 합의하였고, 협의회에는 횡성군과 춘천시, 홍천군, 평창군, 양구군 등 도내 5곳을 비롯해 전국 34곳의 지자체가 가입하였다고 전했다. 

군은 지난 1월 말 참여 동의서를 제출하였으며, 3월 21일 열린 공정관광 지방정부협의회 창립총회에 참여함으로써 공정관광의 첫발을 내딛게 되었다고 했다. 

이날 창립총회에서는 34개 회원정부 자치단체장 등이 참석한 가운데 규약 제정, 임원선출, 창립선언문 채택 등 공정관광 정책활성화를 위한 공동대응 및 협력하기로 하였으며, 향후 공동협력사업으로 공정관광 공동연구, 법령 및 제도개선 활동, 전국 순회 포럼 연대․협력 사업을 추진할 예정이라고 했다. 

조형용 미래전략과장은 “관광객, 지역주민, 자연환경 등 상호관계 속에서 지역의 문제를 해결하고 지역경제 활성화 방안 모색 등 지속 가능한 관광 발전을 위해 최선의 노력을 다하겠다”라고 밝혔다.
