[김준호 기자 = 삼척시] 철사모(철벽부대를 사랑하는 모임 회장 김성진) 봉사단은 27일 육군 제23경비여단을 방문해 위문품을 전달하고 즉석 인절미를 만들어 장병들에게 따뜻한 응원의 마음을 전했다.

철사모는 지역에 주둔한 군 장병을 응원하기 위해 지역주민들이 자발적으로 결성한 대한민국 1호 시민 자생 철벽부대 서포터즈로 2005년부터 19년째 각종 훈련장 위문 활동을 비롯해 신병 수료식 일일 가족 등 다양한 장병 응원 활동을 모범적으로 펼치고 있다.

육군 제23경비여단 관계자는 “전우회가 아닌 지역주민들이 자발적으로 군 장병을 응원하기 위해 결성한 철사모에 대해 감사를 표하며, 삼척시와 시민이 자랑스럽고 따뜻하게 느껴진다.”고 전했다.

철사모 김성진 회장은 “누군가를 응원한다는 것은 참 보람 있고 가치 있는 일”이라며 “앞으로도 늘 변함없이 지역에 주둔한 철벽부대를 응원하는 든든한 동반자로 함께하겠다.”고 말했다.

한편, 철사모는 경비여단의 전신인 육군 23사단 시절 현 최용석 장군이 작전참모로 복무하면서부터 깊은 인연을 맺어왔다.
