화목보일러의 화재를 예방하기 위한 수칙으로는, 불연재로 구획된 별도의 실에 설치하기, 겨울철 한달에 한번 연통 내부 청소하기, 주변 가연물은 보일러 본체와 2m 이상 거리두기, 지정된 연료를 적정량만 넣기, 연료 투입후 투입구 닫기, 보일러 주변 소화기 비치하기 등이 있다고 했다.

박미상 양주소방서장은 “화목보일러를 사용하는 장소에서는 위 안전수칙을 준수해 화재없이 안전하고 따뜻한 겨울을 보내기를 바란다.”고 전했다.
