[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 원주환경청은 강원·충북권 내 총 164개 캠핑장 주변의 하천·계곡(44개소)을 대상으로 수질을 조사한 결과, 모두 생활환경기준(하천) ‘보통’ ∼ ‘매우좋음’을 유지하는 것으로 나타났다고 밝혔다.

이번 조사는 관내 여름철 캠핑장 이용객 증가를 예상하여 16개 시·군*(19개 지역, 총 44개소)의 캠핑장이 밀집된 하천·계곡을 대상으로 실시했다.

* 강원권 38개소(강릉, 동해, 삼척, 양양, 정선, 춘천, 평창, 홍천, 화천, 횡성, 영월, 인제, 원주), 충북권 6개소(괴산, 제천, 충주)

조사대상 항목은 「환경정책기본법 시행령」별표1의 생활환경기준(하천)에 따른 BOD, 총대장균군 등 총 9개 항목으로 전 지점 모두 ‘보통’ 이상의 수질을 유지하는 것으로 나타냈다.

조사지점 중 ① 28개소는 모든 항목이 ‘좋음 이상’으로 오염물질이 거의 없는 청정상태, ② 10개소는 ‘약간 좋음’으로 약간의 오염물질은 있으나 다소 좋은상태, ③ 6개소는 ‘보통’의 오염물질로 인하여 용존산소가 소모되는 일반 상태를 나타내었다.

이창흠 청장은 “캠핑장 주변 하천‧계곡의 수질을 깨끗하게 유지할 수 있도록 오염행위를 자제하고 친환경 캠핑문화가 확산될 수 있기를 바란다‘고 밝혔다.
