[남상훈 기자 = 원주] 오는 4월부터 12월까지 원주지방환경청은 강원‧충북 23개 시‧군 지역 유해화학물질을 취급 사업장 60개소를 선정해 기술지원을 실시한다고 밝혔다.

기술지원 대상은 법령 숙지 및 이행에 어려움을 겪는 사업장, 최근 2년 내 신규 영업허가 사업장, 사고대비물질 취급으로 화학사고 발생 우려가 있는 사업장으로 수요조사를 통해 중소규모의 영세한 사업장을 우선적으로 선정할 계획이다.

교육은 원주지방환경청의 화학물질관리법 개정내용·취급자 준수사항 등 법령 사항 안내, 한국환경공단의 취급시설 검사기준과 각 사업장별 특성에 맞는 안전관리 사항, 한국화학물질관리협회의 화학사고예방관리계획서 작성 프로그램 등을 안내 등 실질적인 내용 위주로 지원할 계획이다.

이와 더불어 현장 기술지원을 받기 어려운 사업장을 위해 화학물질관리법 주요 내용 및 법령 개정사항, 취급시설 운영 시 주의사항 등의 내용을 담아 설명회를 별도로 개최할 예정이다.

원주지방환경청은 취급시설 안전관리 미흡으로 인한 화학사고가 끊임없이 발생하고 있어, 기술지원을 통해 사업장 안전관리 역량 강화 및 화학사고 예방에 도움이 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.

김정환 원주지방환경청장은 “이번 기술지원을 통해 화학사고를 예방하는 가장 효과적인 방법은 사업장 스스로가 취급시설을 안전하게 관리할 수 있는 역량을 갖추는 것이므로 많은 관심과 실천을 부탁드린다”고 말했다.
