[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 12월 6일 양주시 장흥면은 새마을지도자회가 행정복지센터에서 ‘어른공경 나눔행사’를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이날 새마을지도자회원 등 10여 명이 참석했으며, 나눔 행사를 위해 새마을지도자 장흥면협의회는 관내 유휴농지에서 재배·수확한 고구마 판매와 고철 등 재활용품 모으기를 통해 마련한 수익금으로 국수, 라면, 화장지 등 식료품과 생필품을 직접 구입, 각 마을 경로당에 전달했다고 했다.

이천호 새마을지도자 장흥면 협의회장은 “코로나19로 유난히 힘든 시기를 보내고 있는 어르신들에게 작은 보탬이 되고자 이번 행사를 개최했다”며 “앞으로도 나눔 문화가 활성화되도록 열심히 노력하겠다”고 전했다.

문은경 장흥면장은 “매년 농산물 판매와 재활용품 등을 통해 수익금을 마련해 나눔행사에 사용하는 등 지역공동체 조성에 앞장서주는 새마을지도자회에 진심으로 감사드린다”며 “힘든 시기를 보내고 있는 어르신들에게 따뜻한 마음이 전해지기를 바란다”고 말했다.
