[김현우 기자 = 경기북부] 지난 27일 양주시 양주1동 새마을지도자협의회는 관내 불우이웃돕기 성금 마련을 위해 남방동 소재 감자밭에 심은 감자를 수확했다고 밝혔다.

이날 행사에는 신영균 양주1동장과 이희창 시의원을 비롯해 지현소 회장, 새마을지도자협의회원, 관계 공무원 등 20여명이 참석해 지난 4월 파종한 감자 총 80여 상자를 수확했다고 했다.

협의회는 수확한 감자를 지역 주민들에게 저렴하게 판매해 얻은 수익금으로 도움이 필요한 독거노인, 한부모 가정 등 저소득 취약계층을 위해 기부할 예정이라고 했다.

지현소 회장은 “이른 아침부터 지역 내 어려운 이웃을 위해 감자 수확 행사에 참여해준 모든 분들에게 감사의 말씀드린다”며 “올해도 감자 판매 수익금을 기부해 도움을 필요로 하는 소외이웃들에게 작은 힘이 될 수 있길 기대한다”고 말했다.
