돌발해충은 매년 7월부터 10월까지 약충에서 성충으로 활동해 산림, 농작물에 많은 피해를 주고 있으며 발생이 심한 경우 마을 주변 주택, 공원 등까지 내려와 그을음을 발생시켜 생활 민원을 초래하고 있다고 했다.

주요 방제 대상은 여름철 고온다습한 환경에 기승을 부리는 미국선녀벌레, 갈색날개매미충, 꽃매미, 매미나방 등 4종이라고 전했다.

올해 방제 계획면적은 과수 재배농가 66㏊, 농림·생활지 50㏊ 등 총 116㏊로 돌발해충 발생밀도가 높은 주요 농림지와 인접 산림지 등에 신속한 예찰·방제활동을 실시할 방침이라고 했다.
