[안종욱 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 가평군은 오는 8월 말까지 ‘동물등록 자진신고 기간’을 한시적으로 운영한다고 밝혔다.

동물보호법에 따라 주택·준주택 또는 그 외의 장소에서 반려 목적으로 기르는 2개월령 이상의 개는 반드시 동물등록·변경 신고를 해야 하며, 동물등록을 하지 않은 경우 100만원 이하, 변경된 등록정보를 신고하지 않은 경우 50만원 이하의 과태료가 각각 부과된다. 

다만, 자진신고 기간 내에 신규로 등록하거나 기존에 등록된 정보를 변경하면 미등록이나 변경신고 지연에 따른 과태료가 면제된다.

동물등록은 군에서 지정한 동물등록대행업체(관내 동물병원)에서 가능하며 동물등록 변경신고는 단순 정보 변경은 동물보호관리시스템에서 온라인 신청이 가능하고 소유자 변경의 경우 축산정책과 동물복지팀 또는 관할 읍면사무소에 직접 방문하면 된다.

아울러 군은 자진신고 기간 이후인 오는 9월 한 달간 반려견 출입이 많은 공원, 산책길 등을 중심으로 동물등록 여부, 인식표 미착용, 목줄 길이 2미터 이내 유지 여부를 단속하고 위반 시 과태료를 부과할 계획이다.

한편, 군에는 지난 7월 말 기준 약 6,100마리의 반려견이 등록돼 있다.
