[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 12월 8일 의정부시 신곡1동은 겨울철 설해에 따른 침수피해를 예방하기 위해 주요 상습침수구역 및 도로변 빗물받이 청소를 실시했다고 밝혔다.

이번 정화활동은 신곡1동지역자율방재단과 합동으로 약 50여 명이 참여했으며, 청룡초등학교 인근 주택가, 청룡마을 일대 등 신곡1동 상습침수구역과 동일로, 회룡로 등 가로수가 위치한 주요 도로변의 빗물받이 500여 개를 대상으로 진행됐다고 했다.

참여자들은 최근 코로나 확진자가 급증하는 상황에 코로나 확산 방지를 위해 4인씩 나눠서 활동했으며, 배수구 주변의 쓰레기, 빗물받이 내 담배꽁초, 낙엽 등 배수의 흐름에 지장을 주는 각종 폐기물 200kg가량을 수거했다고 전했다.

전정일 신곡1동장은 “항상 주민의 안전을 위해 재난예방에 힘써주시는 지역자율방재단의 활동에 감사드린다”며 “앞으로도 지역자율방재단과 협조를 통한 제설취약지 사전예찰 등을 실시해 겨울철 재난으로부터 주민의 안전을 지키도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
