자율방재단은 최일선 자연재해대비 현장 대응조직으로서, 평소 재난 위험지역과 안전시설을 주기적으로 점검하여 재난안전 대응체계를 선제적으로 강화하고 있는 단체로, 지난 1월 19일 중앙동 일대에 발생한 갑작스런 주택 소실과 화재 잔재로 주민통행이 어려워지자, 자율방재단과 중앙동행정복지센터 직원은 합동하여 고철 등 화재피해 잔해물을 제거하고 주변 환경을 정비했다고 했다.

이춘우 중앙동장은 “화재 잔재 제거에 앞장선 자율방재단 단원들에게 감사드리며, 화재피해 주민이 빠르게 안정을 찾고 일상으로 복귀할 수 있도록 돕겠다”고 전했다.
