[김준호 기자 = 동해시]동해시(시장 심규언)는 지난 14일 러시아 블라디보스톡에서 북방경제권 교역 확대를 위한 업무협약 체결 및 동해항 포트세일을 개최했다고 밝혔다. 

이에 시는 지난 11일~16일 동해항을 중심으로 교역 확대와 물동량 창출을 위한 정기항로 개설에 초점을 맞춰 심규언 동해시장 및 이동호 동해시의장을 비롯한 경제사절단이 러시아를 방문했다.

14일에는 러시아 블라디보스톡 현지에서 ‘북방경제권 교역 확대를 위한 업무협약식’을 맺었으며, 협약내용은 동해항과 러시아 블라디보스톡항, 모스크바주 복합터미널을 거점으로 하는 상호 교역 및 수출입 물동량 창출, 물류단지 조성, 정기항로 개설과 활성화를 위한 협력사항과 역할 분담 등의 내용이 담겼다.

또, 협약식 이후 러시아 블라디보스톡 시장, 주 한 러시아 무역대표부 대표, 주 블라디보스톡 총영사 및 기업인 50여 명의 관계자들이 참석한 가운데 ‘동해항 포트세일’행사를 개최했다.

포트세일 행사는 내외빈 소개와 동해시장의 환영사에 이어 동해시의장의 축사가 있었고, 동해항을 알리는 주제발표 등의 내용으로 진행됐다.

특히, 행사장 입구 로비에는 동해시 관내에서 생산된 각종 제품 12여종을 전시하여 업무협약식과 포트세일 행사에 참여한 러시아 기업관계자들의 관심과 호응을 이끌어냈다.     

심규언 동해시장은 “동해시와 양국기업 간 역할을 담은 협약사항이 이행될 수 있도록 실행계획을 수립하여 물동량을 창출하고, 컨테이너선 정기항로 개설, 동해항 배후 물류단지 조성 등을 차근차근 준비해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
