[김준호 기자 = 동해시] (재)북방물류산업진흥원은 동해항 국제항로 및 지역 활성화를 위해 국제물류기업과 업무협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다. 

지난 27일 열린 ㈜씨케이팬아시아와의 업무협약식에서 기존 동해항의 한·러·일 국제항로 활성화는 물론 신규항로 유치와 수출입 화물 다양화, 소량화물 적극적 유치 등을 목적으로 하며, 이와 연계한 물류 관련 기업 유치, 인적네트워크 구축 및 정보협력 등을 공동 추진하기로 합의했다.

㈜씨케이팬아시아는 국제물류주선업체로 콘솔화물 분야에서 국내 정상급 업체로 평가받고 있으며, KOTRA가 주관하는 수출 바우처사업의 국제운송분야 수행기관으로도 활동하고 있는 물류기업으로 현재 190여개국을 대상으로 한 물류 서비스를 제공 중으로 현대글로비스, TDK, 한국OGK 등 글로벌 기업의 물류서비스를 담당하고 있다.

러시아-우크라이나 간 전쟁으로 동해-블라디보스토크 구간의 카페리 항로가 부각되고 있는 가운데, 올 들어 동해항을 통한 러시아 수출은 호조세를 지속, 11월까지 전년 동기 대비 92%의 증가세를 보이고 있다.

다만, 러시아-우크라이나 간 전쟁으로 인한 러시아 내 중고차 특수 덕분에 동해·묵호항을 통한 자동차 수출은 급증하고 있는 반면, 컨테이너 수출은 크게 늘지 않고 있는 실정으로 장기적인 항로 안정성을 해치고 있다는 평가다.

북방물류산업진흥원은 이번 협약을 통해 ㈜씨케이팬아시아의 다년간의 경험 및 물류망을 살린다면 동해항으로 콘솔화물을 적극적으로 유치, 컨테이너 물동량의 확대를 기대하는 것은 물론 러시아에서 한국 및 아시아로 들여오는 화물 유치 역시 가능할 것으로 기대하고 있다.
