[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 10월, 횡성군은 횡성 물의 마을 명품화 사업 기본구상을 수립한 가운데, 오는 24일 오후 2시 군청 소회의실에서 한국수자원공사 및 물의 마을과 함께 물의 마을 명품화 사업 선포식 및 업무협약식을 개최한다고 밝혔다. 

 물의 마을 명품화 사업은 횡성군에 산재해 있는 천혜의 자연 자원 및 역사적 특화자원을 연계한 관광자원을 개발하고 관광거점을 육성하여 농촌관광 및 지역경제 활성화를 위한 사업이라고 했다. 

선포식 및 업무협약식에는 장신상 군수, 이형묵 한국수자원공사 횡성원주권지사장, 북천마을 남문섭 북천1리장, 호수마을 권영배 화전리장 · 최종섭 구방1리장, 포동마을 정희천 포동1리장 · 윤상춘 포동2리장, 왕도마을 정호택 병지방1리장 · 오정남 병지방2리장, 태기산 치유마을 권순화 신대리장이 참여한다고 전했다.

섬강권역 5개 마을 8개리를 1단계로 추진하고, 섬강권역 사업의 성과가 가시화되는 시점에 주천강권역 사업인 강림면 문학마을 사업을 추진하여 2031년까지 10년간 총81억원을 투입하여 물의 마을 명품화 사업을 추진할 계획이며, 북천마을(북천1리)은 한국 대표 축제중 하나인 횡성한우축제 개최장으로 섬강의 모습을 갖춰가는 물이 많은 마을로 섬강[蟾(두꺼비 섬)江]의 상징적 의미인 두꺼비와 지역 설화를 스토리 공간으로 조성하고 섬강유원지 아트뷰 사업과 연계하여 여가문화 트렌드를 반영한 수변 특화 마을로 조성한다고 했다.

포동마을(포동1·2리)은 우수한 생태환경을 갖춘 포동습지에 횡성댐 유역 윗물 물환경개선사업을 계획하고 있어, 이와 연계한 에코가든 및 전망대 조성, 포동리 산책로 미개설 구간 연결(개설) 등을 통해 습지를 테마로한 힐링과 교육 특화 마을로 조성하고, 포동습지는 환경부에서 생태습지 우수 지역으로 선정하여 향후 물자원의 중요성을 후대에 알릴 학습의 장으로서 중요한 역할을 할 것으로 기대되고 있다고 전했다.
