[김준호 기자=동해시] 동해시가 민선 8기 공약사업인 전천을 남부권역의 사계절 테마 휴식공간으로 조성하기 위해 추진에 속도를 내고 있다고 밝혔다.

이에따라, 지난해부터 전천 자전거도로 조성을 시작으로 잔디광장 정비, 둔치 산책로 확충, 폐철교 활용사업 등 전천 시민 여가 힐링 공간 조성사업이 추진중에 있다.

지난 6일 심규언 시장은 전천 일대 주요 사업 현장에서 업무방향 협의, 문제점 개선방향 등을 논의하며 차질 없는 업무 추진을 당부했다.

먼저, 12억원이 투입되는 전천 폐철교 사업이 조성되며, 3월 교량 보수·보강, 산책로 쉼터, 장미터널, 전망대, 경관조명 등이 설치되어 12월말부터 테마공원으로 운영될 예정이다.

심규언 시장은 현장에서 장애인을 위한 폐철도 진입로 베리어프리(무장애) 시스템이 적용될 수 있도록 해당부서에 주문했다.

이와함께, 오는 2026년까지 연도별로 전천교 ~ 청운교 구간 자전거도로(L=942m)설치한다,
