[안종욱 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 가평군 CCTV통합관제센터가 범죄와 사고를 예방하는 안전지킴이 역할을 톡톡히 해내고 있다고 밝혔다. 

가평군 CCTV통합관제센터는 중앙선을 침범해 인명피해를 발생시킨 음주운전 뺑소니 차량 운전자 검거에 기여 하는 등 지난 2015년 4월 개소한 이후, 가평경찰서와 유기적 협력 체계를 구축하고 519개소 1093대의 방범용 CCTV를 설치, 관제요원 16명과 경찰관 등 18명이 24시간 교대로 실시간 관제하며 5대 강력범죄와 화재, 교통안전사고 예방, 쓰레기 불법투기 적발, 생활방범에도 신속히 대응 및 범인 검거에 크게 기여하고 있다고 전했다.

현재 사용 중인 4Giga 회선용량 중 90%정도 사용 중이며, 향후 신규 사업으로 설치될 CCTV를 고려하면 네트워크 회선의 증속이 반드시 필요하다고 판단한 가평군은 통합관제센터 네트워크 고도화설비를 구매하여 부족한 네트워크 회선용량을 10Giga로 증설하기로 하였으며, 3월 중 정보화사업 보안성검토를 거쳐 오는 5월까지 구축예정이라고 했다.

가평군 관계자는 “네트워크 고도화설비가 구축될 경우 현행대비 2.5배 넓어진 네트워크 대역폭을 확보하여 더욱 안정적인 정보통신서비스 제공이 가능할 것으로 기대된다.”고 말했다.
