<김일웅기자= 동두천.양주.연천> 경기도 ‘동두천시,양주시,연천군갑’ 국민의힘 안기영 후보가 5일 민주당 정성호 후보를 공직선거법상 ‘허위사실 유포혐의’로 양주경찰서에 고소했다. 

지난 1일 있었던 선관위 주관 토론회에서 정성호 후보는 “안 후보자의 배우자하고 가족들은 다 안양에 살고 있는 것 아니겠습니까”라고 사실이 아닌 내용을 마치 질문하는 것처럼 말해 논란이 불거진 것으로 확인됐다.

당시, 안기영 후보는 “지금 허위 사실을 말하고 있는 것이냐, 배우자가 양주에 안 산다고요?”라고 지적하였고, 이에 정성호 후보는 “그건 분명히 제 책임이니까”라며 허위 사실을 얘기한 것을 스스로 인정한 것처럼 들려 논란이 커지는 모양새다.

현재 후보들의 ‘아님은 말고’ 식에 막말이 오고 가며 상대 후보의 치적을 무분별하게 검증 없이 내뱉는 사태가 여기저기서 일어나고 있다. 여.야 모두 막말과 검증 없는 가짜 뉴스에 무분별한 언행을 자제해 달라고 요청하고 있으나 실제 선거일이 얼마 남지 않은 지역에서는 더욱 거세지고 있는 것이 현실이다.

안기영 후보는 배우자와 가족은 양주에 거주하고 있으므로 정성호 후보의 말은 명백한 허위 사실이라며 양주경찰서에 고소장을 제출했다. 또, 안기영 후보는 현재 자기 가족들은 양주에 살고 있음을 주민등록등본을 통해 확인을 해주며 정성호 후보의 허위 사실 유포에 대한 명백한 사실관계를 입증했다고 말했다.

다만 안 후보의 배우자는 한국농어촌공사의 직원으로 파주에 근무하기 때문에 평일에는 파주에 있는 관사를 이용하는 경우가 있을 뿐이라며 정성호 후보의 그 당시 발언은 허위 사실 유포에 해당한다며 목소리를 높였다.

이어 안기영 후보는 정성호 후보가 ‘안양’이라는 지역을 꼭 집어 말한 것은 ‘안 후보의 가족들이 양주에 사느냐 아니냐.’의 내용을 물어보는 것이 아니라는 점을 강조하면서 의도적인 허위 사실을 퍼트려 상대 후보를 깎아내리려고 한 것이라고 말했다.
