[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 1월 21일 동두천시 중앙동행정복지센터는 촘촘한 지역복지 안전망 구축을 위해 명예사회복지공무원 운영계획을 수립했다고 밝혔다.

명예사회복지공무원은 자발적으로 복지사각지대를 발굴하고 지원하는 활동에 참여하는 무보수·명예직의 지역 주민을 말하며, 관내 복지지킴이가 되어 동 행정복지센터와 긴밀한 협력체계를 구축한다고 했다.

중앙동행정복지센터는 현재 생활업종 및 사회복지기관 종사자, 지역사회보장협의체 위원, 복지통장 등 다양한 분야에 소속되어 있는 32명의 명예사회복지공무원이 위기 이웃을 발굴하고자 구슬땀을 흘리고 있으며, 또한 2022년 명예사회복지공무원을 희망하는 주민을 적극적으로 찾아 위촉을 의뢰하고, 어려움에 놓인 주민이 발굴될 수 있도록 노력하여 제도권 밖 틈새계층의 생활안정 기반을 조성할 예정이라고 전했다.  

이춘우 중앙동장은 “상대적으로 거주기간이 길고 주변 이웃에 대한 관심이 많은 동 특성을 반영하여 도움이 필요한 분들을 대폭 발굴하고 위기도와 상황에 맞는 서비스를 제공하겠다”고 밝혔다.
