[서종협 기자 = 태백시] 태백시(시장 이상호)는 22일 조기폐광지역 경제진흥사업계획 수립용역에 대한 용역 추진 방향을 결정하고 지역의견을 수렴하기 위해 간담회를 실시했다고 밝혔다.

이번 용역은 대한석탄공사 부지를 활용한 대체산업 육성을 위한 마스터플랜 및 부지매입 국비예산 확보를 위한 사업타당성을 검토하기 위한 것으로, 총 사업비 30억 원(국비 10억 원, 지방비 20억 원)이 투입되어 오는 3월부터 내년 9월까지(총 18개월) 진행될 예정이다.

지역단체에서는 용역이 진행되는 과정 속에서 시민들의 생각도 충분히 녹여낼 수 있도록 하고 국가・공단 등 정부주도로 사업을 추진해 줄 것을 주문했다.

이에, 산업부 관계자는 “이번 용역이 대체산업 육성 및 태백 발전의 기회로 생각하며, 지역에서 많은 관심과 협조를 당부드린다”라고 말했다.

시 관계자는 다양한 지역발전 방안에 대해 계획 중에 있으며, “이번 용역에서 면밀한 검토를 통해 타당성이 확보된 사업을 적극 발굴하기 위해 최선의 노력을 기울이겠다“라고 전했다.
