[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 강릉시는 산업통상자원부에서 추진하는 총 100억 원이 투입되는 '2023년 지역거점 스마트특성화 기반구축사업'에 최종 선정됐다고 밝혔다. 

'스마트특성화 기반구축사업'은 산업통상자원부의 지역산업거점기관 지원사업으로 지역에 기구축된 혁신자원 및 역량을 바탕으로 기존 산업 고도화, 다각화를 추진하는 등 지역산업의 경쟁력 향상을 위해 기획된 지역성장 촉진 정책 중 하나라고 했다. 

이번에 선정된 '코스메슈티컬 소재 산업화 플랫폼 구축사업'은 강원도의 천연자원과 강릉의 천연물 연구·기술 인프라를 활용하여 고부가가치 천연물 기능성 화장품 산업의 선도 거점화를 추진하고, 이를 통하여 포스트 코로나 시대의 지역경제를 견인할 신성장 동력을 창출하기 위해 오는 2023년부터 2025년까지 추진하는 사업이며, 코스메슈티컬(Cosmeceutical): 화장품(cosmetics) + 제약(pharmaceuticals)의 합성어로, 미적기능과 치료기능을 결합한 기능성 화장품을 의미한다고 전했다.

본 사업은 강릉시와 강원도 및 강릉과학산업진흥원이 주관하고 국내 최고의 천연물 연구기관인 한국과학기술연구원 천연물연구소와 강릉원주대학교가 참여하여 ‘유효성분 예측 인공지능 인프라’를 구축하며, 지역기업의 소재개발 가속화 체계를 확립하고, 시생산 장비 확충을 통해 소규모 기업의 제품개발, 시생산 및 판로개척 등 전 분야에 걸친 기업활동을 용이하게 하여 강릉을 기능성 화장품 산업의 메카로 성장시킬 계획이라고 했다.

강릉시 관계자는 “이번 스마트특성화 기반구축 사업 선정으로 지역의 화장품 산업의 경쟁력을 한층 더 강화하여 강릉이 K-뷰티 지속성장의 중심축으로 도약할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
