[서종협 기자 = 태백시] 태백시통합방위협의회(의장 이상호 태백시장)는 지난 31일 시청 소회의실에서 민관군 통합 2023년 1분기 태백시통합방위회의를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이상호 태백시장은 “장기간 계속되고 있는 우크라이나, 러시아의 전쟁과 같이 안보 위기가 고조된 상황 속에서 전쟁은 언제든 일어날 수 있다는 것을 망각해서는 안될 것”이라며, “북한의 7차 핵실험 가능성과 대륙간탄도미사일(ICBM) 발사 등 전략적 도발 및 각종 사이버 공격과 테러 위협도 커지고 있는 엄중한 상황 속에서 안보 위협에 대비하기 위한 지역의 민·관·군·경 총력 안보 체계 구축이 필요하다”라고 말했다.

또한 군부대 관계자는 최근 북한이 무인기를 통해 영공을 침범하는 만큼 우리 지역의 중요시설 보호 및 통합방위를 위해 신속히 대처할 수 있는 ’안티드론 시스템 구축‘의 필요성을 언급했다.

이날 회의에서는 앞으로도 민관군의 통합된 노력과 긴밀한 협조체계를 유지하여 상시 대비태세를 견지하고 통합방위 지원역량 강화에 대한 방안이 논의 됐다.
