운전면허 자진반납을 희망하는 고령운전자는 운전면허증을 가지고 주소지 관할 읍면동 행정복지센터나 양주경찰서를 직접 방문해 반납 신청을 하면 된다고 했다.

만 65세 이상 반납자에게는 지원금 10만원이 지급되지만 만 75세 이상 반납자는 기존 지원금에 10만원을 추가한 총 20만원의 지역화폐를 지원받을 수 있다고 전했다.

양주시 관계자는 “고령자의 운전면허 자진반납을 유도해 실질적인 교통사고 감축 효과를 높이고 안전한 교통환경 조성에 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.
