[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 양주시는 지난 17일 양주경찰서와 함께 관내 초등학교에서 어린이 보행 안전을 위해 ‘어린이보호구역 불법주정차 금지 캠페인’을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

이날, 어린이 보행 안전 확보를 위해 관·경 합동으로 어린이보호구역 불법주정차 근절을 중점홍보하며 교통안전의 중요성을 알렸다고 했다. 

불법 주정차는 운전자의 시야를 가려 안전 운전을 어렵게 만들어 사고 발생의 위험을 높이는 요인이며, 불법 튜닝, 차량번호판 가림 등에 관한 금지 안내문 배포와 횡단보도 앞 우선멈춤 등 교통사고 예방을 위한 운전자 계도 활동을 진행해 운전자의 안전운전 의식을 제고시켰다고 했다.

시민 누구나 평일 오전 8시부터 오후 8시까지 초등학교 어린이 보호구역 정문 앞 도로에 불법 주정차량 발견 시 안전신문고앱을 통해서 신고할 수 있다고 했다.

심윤정 차량관리과장은 “등·하굣길 안전한 통학로 확보를 위해 앞으로도 어린이보호구역 불법주정차 금지 캠페인을 지속적으로 실시하겠다”며 “작년 5월 11일부터 개정된 도로교통법 시행령 적용에 따라 어린이보호구역 내 불법 주정차 시 최대 13만원의 과태료가 부과되고 있으니 운전자들의 각별한 주의를 요한다”고 말했다.
