[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 강원도는 올해 어린이보호구역 내 어린이 교통사고 사망자 제로를 목표로 보호구역 내 ICT 첨단교차로 설치 시범사업을 시행한다.

현재 도내 753개의 어린이보호구역 중 어린이 교통안전 강화를 위하여 개선이 시급한 어린이보호구역 31개소에 과속방지턱 등 교통안전시설 보강, 안전속도 정착을 위한 무인교통단속장비 117대 및 시인성 강화시설(옐로카펫 등) 137개 설치 등을 시행 중에 있다.

무엇보다, 금년에는 기존 단순․물리적인 교통안전시설을 ICT·AI 등을 활용한 보행자 중심의 첨단교통 시스템으로 전환하는「ICT 첨단교차로 구축사업」을 어린이보호구역 36개소에 시범 설치하고, 본 사업의 성과 분석을 통해 교통약자의 안전 횡단에 기여하는 등 긍정적인 효과를 거둘 경우 내년부터 지속 확대 시행할 계획이다.

❖ (보행신호 자동연장시스템) 횡단보도 보행신호시간 동안 횡단을 완료하지 못한 보행자를 인지해 허용된 시간범위(5~10초) 내에서 보행시간을 자동으로 연장

❖ (보호구역 식별강화 시설) 바닥신호등, 발광형 교통안전표지판 등

앞으로, 강원도는 현재 추진 중인 사업이 계획기간 내 마무리될 수 있도록 총력을 다하며, 보행자 중심의 안전한 강원도 구현을 위해  지속적인 교통안전시설 확충은 물론 도내 교통안전 문화인식 개선에 위한 다양한 정책을 개발 도입할 계획이다.
